Construction and renovations began in March of 2021, and thanks to all our partners we opened this amazing new service on October 25th! Check out all the steps in this transformation below, and consider getting involved!
Update #6: Food Club Opens!
On October 25th, we celebrated with our community as we launched Food Club. After years of planning, and a community-wide campaign joined by hundreds of individuals, businesses, foundations, and churches, this new cornerstone of community service welcomed its first guests.
Construction Update #5: In-Kind Partnerships
I want to stop to reflect on something that’s incredibly encouraging. On top of the generous financial support of so many, we’ve been heartened to see so many of our local corporate partners getting behind this effort with significant in-kind support. They’re putting what they do best into action in service of this vision of uplifting, efficient, high-dignity services. I’d like to highlight many of these compelling in-kind partnerships briefly here.
Construction Update #4: We’re Getting Close!
We’re nearing completion! Recently, our furniture and fixtures have (largely) been installed, and we’re moving through the final stages of construction and move in. We’re so excited to begin serving our guests when we open on October 25th!
Construction Update #3: Hanging Drywall & Volunteer Opportunities
This week, teams have finalized much of the interior electrical, and started to hang drywall to more clearly define the flexible spaces at our future location, designed to facilitate opportunity, collaboration, and the radically welcoming spirit of our efforts. Community Action House set to open Food Club later this year
Local nonprofit Community Action House announced it will open a Food Club and Opportunity Hub in Holland later this year. The Food Club, which will be located at the former Yff’s neighborhood grocery location, aims to increase access to healthy food choices for low-income families in a grocery store-style setting.
Construction Update #2
May 3, 2021 - This month, we watched the space take shape as walls began to be installed. Our construction partners also made progress in the basement warehouse, removed the current parking lot, and began preparing the truck dock. Read more and check out some update photos and videos.
Construction Update #1
April 9th, 2021: In October 2019, we launched a capital campaign to finance a huge new initiative. After months of planning and so much generous community support, we’re proud to announce we began renovations on March 9th! As long as we keep on track , our new Food Club & Opportunity Hub will be completed in September, and open in October this year.
